Dear All,

Some of you may be aware that there is a free, weekly, 5k run in Brabyns park every Saturday morning at 9am called Marple parkrun.

The event started in May 2012 and has taken place every Saturday since then. It attracts upwards of 200 runners a week from the local community. The run is open to runners of all abilities and we have a range range of local people taking part.

Following on from the success of that event, we are looking to start a Junior event along the same lines on a Sunday morning. In order to get it started we require some funding. Once the start up funding has been achieved the parkrun organisation will support the event for the rest of it's life.

Stockport NHS funded the initial event but they are unable to fund the junior one.

We are looking for contributions from local businesses and organisation to help. We already have some pledges and would be grateful for more.

For more details please email marpleoffice@parkrun.com and I will be happy to explain what we do and how we aim to give a free event to encourage the children of Marple to take up running and become active.

Thanks,
James Kemp
