Volunteers are down at the Middlewood Way right now on their second Conservation Fun Day, see almost 'live' pictures below, and they're making great headway in clearing some of the track. There's lots still to do though, so more people at the next Fun Day on 25th September would be brilliant!

Some would say it's been a long time coming, others better late than never - Stockport Council has organised three Conservation Fun Days on Middlewood way. The dates are:

Saturday 31st July
Saturday 28th August
Saturday 25th September

Click here for a poster provide by SMBC with more details

We at the Marple Website are otherwise engaged on a boozy stag do in Edinburgh this weekend, but we'll definitely show our faces for the one in August. Those of you who can, please support this event and show that the Way is important to us all.

The Community Council have set up, in principle at this stage,
a Friends of Middlewood Way Group, following on from the three work days so far this year.
Are you interested in joining this group?- it's not just a "pick and shovel" gang, but an opportunity to forge links with the council and other agencies, and keep Middlewood Way in a worthwhile state for residents and a range of visitors, it's not just a talking shop either.

If you are interested in giving up some of your time to this worthwhile project, please email as below.

A "Friends" group will operate independent of MCC and will include residents, interested partners, as well as the Council.

mcc@peacefield.fsnet.co.uk

Thanks,
Adrian Taylor

Hello Ritzmar, and anyone else interested in Middlewood Way,
Saw your posting and note you would'nt mind a Sunday work day.
If there is anyone else interested in "work days" please send me an email to:
mcc@peacefield.fsnet.co.uk
Have a look at the Community Council's site and go to the "Notice Board".
The "Three work days" are now completed and have made a difference, as do those volunteers who collect litter between Wood Lane car park and Rose Hill Station.

SMBC staff have been very helpful, and of course SMBC supplied tools, refreshments and generally directed the sessions - THANKS to them.
