Website sponsor @MARPLE DRAMA are raising funds to buy some portable stage lights for their community theatre company.

Follow this link to support them: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/stage-lights-for-community-theatre/

Here's what they say about this project:

We are raising funds to buy some portable stage lights for our community theatre company in Marple, Cheshire. We started out as volunteers at All Saints School, Marple, running after school drama classes. These became so popular and the demand so great that we offered our services on Saturdays and then added Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our classes focus on the development of confidence & self esteem  for 6 - 18 year olds using acting and drama techniques. We then move onto short showcase performances before tackling full length plays. We have made strong connections with the local theatre in Marple and they have supported us with technical help and the use of the theatre for our end of year performances. We have also made connections with M6 Theatre in Rochdale. We share ideas and they allowed us to use their portable stage when we performed at The Lowry last year.

Our main issue is that we have no access to lights. The work we do each term is often put in front of an audience and the standard is always very high, however, we have no means to light the shows, create atmosphere etc. It wasn't so much of an issue earlier on, but the more we have developed the need to include lights in our work has grown with us. It would be a great asset for us to be able to purchase a few lights, mixer etc. It would add a vital ingredient to our classes/performances and really enhance the work our young people do. Having a portable lighting system will enable us to rehearse the lights into the shows and also allow us to take the lights with us when we go into different environments to run workshops.
