The Cheshire

I went into The Cheshire building society today (I have an account there). Customers are now let in by a security guard through the locked front door. A "significant" amount of money was stolen the other day. The branch has not been informed that the robbers have been caught or any money has been recovered.

Nothing concrete but..........

As hubby and I were returning to Marple from New Mills 4.30ish there was a police vehicle pulled up outside the Cheshire, facing the wrong way, with lights flashing.

Then as we dropped down through Marple three more police cars came hurtling up, lights flashing, from the Stockport direction.

As I went out again, at 7pm ish there were still two police cars parked outside the Cheshire.

Couldn't see any police cars at 11.15pm, on my return.

I noticed a couple of police cars near The Cheshire earlier this evening and I've been informed by a local shop owner that a robbery or attempted robbery was made. Reports of a getaway motorcycle going down the wrong way on Church Lane have also been mentioned.

If anyone has any concrete info, please post to the forum.
