Most people will know about Charlie's Bandroom Dream and the project to turn the old Park Keeper's cottage in Memorial Park into a bandroom suitable for our two village bands. See:
www.charliesbandroomdream.co.ukThe piece of land owned by the Brass Bands of Marple behind the Edge Restaurant was put up for sale with planning permission for two dwellings and it is hoped that the income from this will fund most of the cost of an extension to the cottage to create a rehearsal room. Unfortunately there is a hiccup over the sale to do with "Right of Way" onto the land and that problem is still being discussed with the council.
In the meantime a considerable amount of money has already been spend refurbishing the existing building and the drains also need to be replaced at a cost of £9,000.
Tickets for a Grand Raffle to help towards the drainage costs go on sale today, 18 February, at the Marple Methodist Church Table Top Sale. The Top Prize in what is being billed as the "Trolley Dash Draw" will be a Trolley Dash at the Marple Co-Op - with a BIG THANK YOU to the Manager and Area Manager of our local Co-Op for agreeing to this event taking place. As well as today, the tickets will be available from members of the two Brass Bands and the various committee members will continue selling them (£1 each and in books of 5) until 1st April 2012, when the draw will take place in the Ring o' Bells.
