Thanks for your ideas - this site never fails! However, she's always been told it was a small nursing home (rather than a hospital) somewhere along the A6 so she thinks it's more likely to have been more of a residential building. At the time of her birth she lived on Plymouth Grove in Manchester but knows the nursing home was on the A6 in Stockport. Any more ideas welcome!

My husband was born in 1950 and the place of birth on his birth certificate is stated as being
26 Poplar Grove.  I think Stepping Hill Hospital is on Poplar Grove, so that could be where your friend was born.

could it have been stepping hill they had a maternity unit in the 60s  but know before that

I am trying to locate a nursing home/hospital where where my friend was born in 1951. All that is known is that it was on the A6 in Stockport which doesn't narrow it down so much. Although someone thought they may have been such a place in Great Moor. Any help would really be appreciated, thanks.
