My name is Anthony (Tony ) Bradley and Iwas in the hospital in 1946-7-8 for an 18 months stay. The only thing I can remember is the bad winter of 1947:the large open windows :waterproofs on the beds as closing the windows a rare event.
I realise it was awhile ago now but my mother being admitted to Marpledale awoke a few memories which someone may be able to help me with
                                         Thank You

Tjere were 2 hospitals on Dale Road. The children's orthopaedic and Nab Top which would have been a TB sanatorium in your day. From your description of open windows in the depth of winter suggests you were in the San - fresh air being a standard treatment for TB before the wide-spread use of penicillin (and for some time after). The rich went to Switzerland and the poor to Nab Top. (Ok, so that's a wild generalisation!)

II rather think that the Barchester place is on the Nab Top site.
