I'm one of the Environmental Health Officers with Stockport that deals with Smoke Control Areas and real fires amongst other things.

Give me a call on 0161 474 4292, more thna happy to have a chat with you.

It's easier to explain in words than type.

Karen,

My own enquiries indicate that you can in some parts of Marple, but not in others. For example - I'm told that on Woodville Drive, where I live, that you can't!

It has been suggested to me that the best way to find out for sure is to order some coal - apparently the coal merchant will know where ordinary coal can be used and where it cannot.

Hope this is useful advice...........

A simple question that I can't answer. Maybe one of you Marple residents knows.... Is Marple a smoke-free zone, that is, are we allowed to burn coal in our fires?
