This is what Steve had to say about it:

Marple and Hawk Green band competed against each other for the first time in their history at Blackpool on the 10th of March 2013. There were sixteen bands competing in the third section of the Northern area Championship. Marple played 15th and were placed first and Hawk Green played 3rd and came a very respectable third.

DVD's of their performance to raise money for the final, which will be held in Cheltenham in September, can be ordered at the Ring o' Bells Pub. One DVD features the performance at Blackpool and the second features a photo DVD with Music by Marple Band.

Only £5 per DVD produced by Steve Abbott with proceeds going to support the bands' expenses for the final.

On Sunday 10Th March The Marple band competed in the North West Brass Band Championship at Blackpool and won 1st prize,The Hawk Green Band were placed 3rd.Both bands will now represent the North West in the National finals of Great Britain at Cheltenham in September.The Bands will now be very busy fund raising to cover the transport and over costs to compete,estimated to be around £5000 for each band.
