Full details are now available for the "September Soiree" on Tuesday September 20th, 7.30pm with the Liz Ward singers and Marple Choral Society at Cheadle and Marple College:

The main item on Marple Choral Society’s programme for the evening is a setting of  7 Negro Spirituals by well-known composer John Rutter under the title “Feel the Spirit”.

They alternate high-energy syncopated rhythms with the quieter and more yearning items such as “Deep River”, and finish with a triumphant “Oh When the Saints”.  The setting includes a mezzo soprano soloist and we are looking forward to welcoming back the delightful Sara Parry to sing these for us. The programme will also include some madrigals and part songs.

Accompaniment is provided by the choir’s regular pianist James Pelham, and the concert will be conducted by the choir’s musical director Michael Dow.

Tickets price £6.00 (concessions £5) can be obtained from the college or the Festival box office.
