Thanks for sorting.
Our samba band has started back this week, happy for them to play again or help in any other way (other than me actually Morris Dance!), be that more music or dance performances

After months of phoning around, I have managed to speak to the Morris dancing associations chairperson, who says that she will try her best to try to get a couple of troupes to attend next years carnival.  The problem she says is that lots of the girls have Sat jobs and most carnivals are now on Sundays  ??? but she says that she will do her best to get a couple of troupes to attend as a lead into reintroducing them back to Marple.  Nothing is definite yet I have to contact her in a week so fingers crossed.  I hope Brabyns Samba Band is practicing because hopefully we may need you  ::)

The Samba Band was fantastic !!  I hope that something can be done to bring back more dance and music to the parade.

If this does get off the ground and somebody is then willing, I am happy to try and see if I can get a group of my children (Brabyns School) to get together and they can then hopefully perform.  Our samba band really enjoyed both the parade and playing in the park this year.

8)Yes that sounds great ! I will contact you in the week.  I am sure there would be a lot of local support and it would give a lot of Marple youngsters the chance to join in and become a real part of the community.  Just one little matter I need to clarify!!  I was never a Morris Dancer I was always too big and cumbersome. But I loved watching so hopefully I will have the chance to watch again.  I would although be willing to fund raise if needed and assist in any thing that was needed!  Look forward to speaking to you.

Morris dancer wil only be attracted to the Carnival if there is a dance compertition on the field after the procession. It may be that the Carnival Committee can not afford the prize money and the medals.Shame really the Morris dancers made the Carnival more colourful and twice as long.

::) Marple Carnival was once again wonderful.  Its great to see the local community coming together but although great it lacked more bands and Morris dancers.  Does anyone know why we don't have Morris dancers anymore  ???   I remember the Marple Morris dancers used to practice in the upstairs room at the Libreal Club in Marple (no longer there)  There was a waiting list to join and as children we would go along and watch their weekly rehearsals. I know that there are many Morris dancing troupe's in the country so why are they not joining in our Carnival, does anyone know why ??
