yes I know its good weve had lots of family parties there and it looks like we are going to go there again as thats whats mums asked for - again

Thanks for all the suggestions

FYI Checked out bredbury hall.. okay not in marple but closeish and apart from the cellar it has a good reputation.

for anyone trying to organise an older persons party they do a very good deal on Sunday.  You can have a complete afternoon in the restaurant (anytime after 2) with a 3 piece band and you can go on for as long as you want if you get a DJ.. they even offered to get us a kids entertainer.  bit more costly than the cricket club but it might interest a few - except my mum

I'll happily plug the Cricket Club as a good venue - (I am the MCC webmaster afterall!'<img'>.

I had my wedding evening reception at the club last month and it was first class. There are some limited pictures of the facilities on our webpages...

I think 200 people probably rules out anywhere in Marple. The maximum for Mellor golf club function room is 110 according to their web site.

How about the Moorside Hotel in Disley. They can cater for that number I think, and it is quite 'posh'.

If you really want to go to town, try Lyme Hall. I went to a wedding reception there a few years back. Very impressive and the catering was superb.

Only others that come to mind are Edgeley Park (they can cater for up to 600) or the larger hotels on the A6, such as the Alma Lodge.

Another one not mentioned yet is the Hawk Green Reading Rooms - they have their own web site showing availability and contact details:

Mellor Parish Centre is newly done up (it's in the former Mellor School building next to Mellor Church), and it's very nice and easy to hire - definitely worth considering, Lisa.

Marple Cricket Club is also good (and is licenced).  How big a room do you need?  We have used the WI opposite Ludworth School and will be using the Mellor Parish Centre for another event in June.

We've booked both Hawk Green Cricket Club and the British Legion in the past couple of years - with the added advantage that they are both licensed! '<img'>

Most churches have a room

Having a room, and being able to use a room are different things though.  I presume it's still the case that All Saints don't hire and Marple Meth are always booked?!

Depends what kind of event you want to have!

There is the Con Club, most pubs have a function room (The Navigation certainly does!'<img'>, Most churches have a room, and then theres the Cricket club etc
