The ICE idea has been around a while, I did this years ago, though I always carry that same number around with me in my purse as I think more people will look in that first.

I lock my phone with a PIN in case it gets stolen and so I don't accidentally call people when it's in my pocket. I don't suppose the the ICE number is any good if your rescuer can't get at your phone. Surely. if you're worried about people being contacted in event of an accident, an ID bracelet or dog tag would be a better idea. The battery won't run out on them either!

I do think this is a good idea BUT..... I do have a niggle about it!  Whenever I get a phone call or text message from my ICE number it comes up as that!!!   ICE1 calling!  grrrrrr

add a '#' to the end of the ICE number: this means the ICE number can be called, but the original name and number will be recognised by your phone when the caller contacts you
