This process will be much easier for Marple parents by 2011/12 - they will only have the choice of 1 primary school and 1 faith school.........

SMBC when questioned about parental choice, come back with the answer that there are 17 primary schools within a 2 mile radius of Rose Hill station for us the choose from.  Intrestingly, the 2 miles is as a crow flies, so Mellor Primary School is on the list, if you walked from RH station to Mellor that would be more than 2 miles and certainly to far for small children to walk - I haven't noticed that many children flying to school so don't understand why its measured that way?

Most of the schools on the list are already bursting at the seams ie Ludworth or are Roman Catholic.  We are being railroaded ..... yet again by SMBC.

Parents/carers of children born between 1st September 2004 and 31st August 2005 need to apply for a primary school place for September 2009.

The closing date for applications from parents/carers is Friday 12th December 2008.

Stockport Council has sent application forms to parents/carers and information booklets to all Stockport maintained primary and nursery schools, along with posters and leaflets alerting them to the need to apply for a primary school place.

To make this process quick and easy for parents the Council offers an online service for applying for primary school places. Parents can apply online at www.stockport.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

Parents/carers can also contact Stockport Council’s Admissions team on 0161 218 1568/9 for advice and support.
