MELLOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL TRUST WIN AN AWARD

When Ann and John Hearle of the Mellor Archaeological Trust went down to Olympia for the “Who do you think you are? “ Show, they knew that they were finalists in the Council of British Archaeology’s Marsh Award for Community Archaeology.  But who would be the winners?   The surprise announcement by Brian Marsh of the Marsh Christian Trust was that he would double the prize money and give all four finalists cheques for £500 as joint winners.  With Royton, Mellor was one of two winners from Greater Manchester. The other two groups were from the North of Scotland and Worcestershire.

Make sure you switch on your TV on Monday 19th May for the Iron Age Programme on hillforts on CHANNEL FOUR AT 9pm.  The crew spent a day filming at Mellor for this programme, although no one knows how much of the film will have hit the cutting room floor!
