MARPLE NWR SUMMER PROGRAMME 2012

16 April - THREE THINGS that have changed your life. People, events or technology?      
30 April - CHALLENGED IN THE PAST? ‘Something I made earlier’ or an achievement to be proud of.      
14 May - LOCAL HISTORY WALK with Judith Wilshaw, 2 hours, followed by visit to a local hostelry       
21 May - THEATRE VISIT Pygmalion at Chads      
18 June - ‘AFTERNOON TEA’ and an opportunity to visit Sue’s garden      
25 June - ‘OUR OWN MISS BERTRAM’ Play reading, from the author of ‘Ladies only eat one biscuit’      
09 July - THE BIG READ REVIEW Started Early, Took my Dog by Kate AtkinsonPLANNING      
23 July - SPEAKER ‘A Gift with a Difference’ - organ/tissue donation

MARPLE NWR AUTUMN PROGRAMME 2012

3 September - AGM AND APPOINTMENT OF NEW L.O.  Share holiday/Olympics highlights. Subs due.
17 September HAVE A RUBBISH NIGHT OUT! Come and see what happens to all our recycled rubbish - more details to follow.  
1 October - THE ART OF FUROSHIKI Japanese- style gift wrapping. Learn how to use up scarves and pretty scraps of fabric. Please bring square scarf or material not too bulky to knot.
15 October - WICKED WOMEN in fact or fiction. Research.
29 October - FOOD FOR THOUGHT Research English places connected with food and bring a tasty treat.Eg. Eccles cakes.
12 November - TELEPHONE TREASURE TRAIL Please arrive for a prompt start at 8pm and bring any reference books you think may help.
26 November - SPEAKER ‘On The Bench’. Experiences of a magistrate.
10 December - THEATRE TRIP to the Garrick. ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens.          
17 December - CHRISTMAS MASTERMIND Plus CHRISTMAS FOOD and PLANNING

MARPLE NWR WINTER PROGRAMME 2013

The Marple Branch of the National Women's Register (NWR) meet fortnighly on Monday evenings in members' homes to discuss all subjects, for example cultural and political matters, but also have trips to the theatre and meals out etc.  There is also a book club.

All meetings start at 8.00 pm unless otherwise stated

07 January - A WINTER’S TALE. Bring a picture, story or poem connected with winter.. 
19 January - CHRISTMAS PARTY.  Partners welcome.
21 January - THE FALLAS IN SPAIN.  An illustrated talk.
04 February - ‘BLOOD BROTHERS’. Play.
18 February - WHAT’S IN THE NEWS?  Bring a newspaper cutting about something that has interested you.
04 March - ‘ROOM  101’ - What or who would you put in?
18 March - IRELAND. Bring food and some interesting facts or stories associated with the country.

15 April - Snog/marry/avoid - Bring a list of 3 names to snog/marry/avoid. We will pick them out at random and make an instant decision!. 
29 April - Who would you like to meet and why? (Dead or living people)
20 May - Beetle Drive - Bring 3 items worth 50p, £1 and £1.50.
10 June - What is your favourite plant? - Discussion followed by a plant swap.
24 June - ‘Tarantara! Tarantara!’ - at the Garrick Theatre, Stockport.
8 July - Walk.
22 July - Research someone with whom you share a birthday - Followed by birthday cake.
3 August - Safari dinner
