MARPLE NWR AUTUMN PROGRAMME 2013

The Marple Branch of the National Women's Register (NWR) meet fortnighly on Monday evenings in members' homes to discuss all subjects, for example cultural and political matters, but also have trips to the theatre and meals out etc.  There is also a book club.

9 September - ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’ - theatre trip.       
23 September - AGM and collection of subs - Please bring a game to play if you have anything suitable.      
7 October - Famous Women 20 Questions - Research a famous woman. The rest of the group must try to guess her identity by asking questions which may only be given yes/no answers.      
28 October - Play Reading - We will try to find something suitable from the library.      
11 November - Telephone Treasure Trail - Please try to arrive by 7.50 so we can get on the phone promptly.      
25 November - Problem Page - Bring problems from newspapers/magazines and we will try our hand at being agony aunts.  Include the original answers for comparison.      
16 December - Christmas meeting with mince pies and planning the spring programme - Bring something Christmassy (e.g.poem) to read.

MARPLE NWR WINTER PROGRAMME 2014

The Marple Branch of the National Women's Register (NWR) meet fortnightly on Monday evenings in members' homes to discuss all subjects, for example cultural and political matters, but also have trips to the theatre and meals out etc.  There is also a book club.

11 January -(Saturday) Christmas/New Year party. 8pm. Please let Sue know whether you are bringing a hot main course or a dessert.
13 January   - 2013 Quiz.  Bring one if possible.
27 January - Belgium.  Research the country and bring appropriate food or drink.
10 February - ‘Lend me a tenor’ (a farce) at The Garrick. Please contact Sylvia asap if you want to come.
24 February - What’s in the news?  Bring a newspaper cutting that has caught your eye.
10 March - Murder mystery play.
24 March - 'The colour purple.’  Come wearing purple and join a discussion around the colour.  Bring any interesting purple things/facts along.  
7 April - NWR Big Read.  ‘My dear, I wanted to tell you’ by Louisa Young.  Please try to read it before the meeting.

28 April - ‘What I cannot throw away’.  What comes into this category for you and why?      
12 May - Talk by speaker from the Wellspring. Please bring along a tin or carton for them to use.Apparently they are short of custard!      
02 June - Scottish Independence.  Are you in favour and why?      
16 June - Old professions (not the oldest profession!).  Research a profession that is no longer followed.      
30 June - Walk, weather permitting.      
14 July - Bastille Day.  Bring some French food or drink and some interesting information about France.

All meetings start at 8.00 pm unless otherwise stated

08 Sept - AGM with cheese and wine.  Includes collection of subs and appointment of new LO. Please bring quizzes/games to play.      
22 Sept - ‘Why I want to be an MP’  Talk by prospective local MP.      
06 Oct - Describe a piece of art that you like and explain why it appeals to you.  Bring a picture if possible. Would you buy it if you had the money?      
20 Oct - Theatre trip to CHADS to see ‘Veronica’s Room by Ira Levin.  Please contact Sue asap if you want to go.      
10 Nov - Telephone Treasure Trail.      
24 Nov - Women in the army.  Is it a good idea for women to be in the front line? Plus planning for the next programme.
15 Dec - Memories of Christmas.  Presents, good and bad.Bring Christmas food and drink.
