MARPLE NWR SUMMER PROGRAMME 2015

The Marple Branch of the National Women's Register (NWR) meet fortnightly on Monday evenings in members' homes to discuss all subjects, for example cultural and political matters, but also have trips to the theatre and meals out etc.  There is also a book club.

All meetings start at 8.00 pm unless otherwise stated

13 Apr - With the Election fast approaching what would you put in your manifesto?
27 Apr - A speaker from Beechwood Cancer Care Unit.
11 May - The ethics of travel: Global tourism help/harm?      
01 Jun - Research a notable event relating to this date.   
17 Jun (Weds) - Visit to Victoria Baths: Hathersage Road, Manchester,M13 0FE  -  contact Leader   
29 Jun - Local walk: meet outside the library at 7.30pm
13 Jul - Women in prison: how does the system treat imprisoned women & where do we stand on this?
27 Jul - “Afternoon Tea” and planning.
01 Aug (Sat) - BBQ  -  details to follow.

14 Sep - AGM, including collection of subs. Also discussion on themed books plus general “catching up.
28 Sep - Kate will tell us about her 2 months on Iona.
12 Oct - “It’s a small world”  Tell us what coincidences you’ve had in your life.
26 Oct - Royalist/Republican.  Which side are you on and why?
09 Nov - Telephone Treasure Trail. Be ready to start at 8pm.
11 Nov (Weds) - Royal Exchange Backstage Tour: see e-mails from Sylvia.
23 Nov - Migration Watch: discussion.  Plus programme planning.
14 Dec - A seasonal evening: mince pies, mulled wine and games.

All meetings start at 8.00 pm unless otherwise stated:

11th January - Favourite places, books and music: what would you recommend and why?
1st February - GARRICK THEATRE: A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney.
8th February - Murder Mystery Play Reading: “The Semitones” by Linda Messham.
Saturday 13th February 7pm - “New Year Party” with a Chinese theme: please dress accordingly!
22nd February - We have “Woman’s Hour”. Should there be a “Men’s Hour” and what should be in it?
7th March - Population: a looming crisis? What do we do about controlling it?  Plus programme planning.
21st March - Germany is NWR’s themed country for 2016. An evening of information and refreshments.
