One of the problem with traditional Dry Cleaners is that the solvents and petreloems used can actually damage the cloth.

Also, traditional dry cleaning methods can cause damage to the fusings and inter-linings of more tailored garments (such as jackets and coats) and cause them to blow causing a bubbling effect to appear on the front of the garment.

I used the hollins twice before and very disapointed with what became of my nice white coat, not only did it look a mess and came back with 2 new ORANGE stains, they tryed to fob me off with a an excuse that was just rubbish in it self, somthing to do with the cemicals (I have a qual in Textiles) and they can't get it anymore white than it was because of layer of dirt, I had only had it do 3 month before. I have to find a new place, but I don't drive and it has to be local. '<img'>

Our Eco-Clean service is new and we only started it a couple of weeks ago.  All our marketing and Point-of-Sale materials are still in production so we are working solely on 'word of mouth' at the moment.

I have to admit that the turnaraound time is a little longer than a regular Dry Cleaner.  Depending when you dropped an item into us it could take upto 10 days (but the average time at the moment is around 7 days).

Even though it does take longer, I believe that the added quality and care of the service makes up for this and we are currently working to reduce the amount of time it takes.

The cost of having a pair of trousers cleaned through the Eco-Clean system would be £5.50.  However, we do offer a 10% reduction on all our Dry Cleaning prices to our "Privileged Customers".  There is no cost to becoming a "Privileged Customer" and if you would like more information please pop into the shop.

Hi Mike.

I passed your shop yesterday but didnt notice any signs for  cleaning, if I had known you did dry cleaning , I would certainly have bought my items to your shop as we have always had great service when we have been in ( also hired our morning suits from yourselves for our wedding).

I dont mind paying that bit extra if I know Im guaranteed a good service.

What is the turnaround for your dry cleaning,  for a suit for example?

I am collecting my husbands suit trousers today from the shop in hazel grove, they have cost £5 to have cleaned, I will let you know the results!

I work at Paul Howard (the mens clothes shop at the top end of Market Street).  We've just introduced a new Eco-clean Dry Cleaning service.

It uses pressurised Carbon Dioxide gas as the cleaning solution so it is much more enviromentally friendly than the traditional solvent or petreoleum based Dry Cleaners.

On top of this, CO2 is also much better for the clothes.  It doesn't leave them with the sticky residue or the pungent smell of traditional solvents.

Our prices are generally equal too Johnsons and customers who have tried the service have given us very positive feedback.  If you'd like more information please contact me.

There's also more information on our website - www.paul-howard.co.uk/be-kind-to-your-clothes-and-to-the-environment-too.html

I used to use the independent dry cleaners opposite the Texaco garage until it closed and then started usng Johnsons on the Hollins, but like you found the quality poor. After two attempts to clean an item last year, I tried to find another independent cleaners and came up with Stockport Dry Cleaners, near Matalan. I have used them several times since and, not only do they do a great job, they're cheaper too!

'' Do you know the small roundabout near Matalans in Stockport, there is a dry cleaners there, I personally have only used them for alterations (good and cheap) but a chap I work with uses them once a month for cleaning his suits and they will deliver after the cleaning.

Can anyone reccomend a good dry cleaners thats not too far away

I dont find Johnsons particularly good ( a suit jacket  came back puckered at the seams of the sleeves)  and have recently had a succesfull claim against the dry cleaners at Morrisons in Bredbury  after they ruined my husbands coat and silk tie , although it took months to resolve, we got there in the end!  ( I obviously dont have much luck with dry cleaning! )

The old dry cleaners next to Cadburys was very good, did they close this down and relocate?

I need my husbands suit cleaning,  but a cleaners where they are going to show attention to detail and care is a must.  What about the cleaners near Marks and Spencers in Hazel Grove, does anyone reccomend them as they are quite near??
