There is a new event being organised by the Marple Business Forum called the "Marple Cracker" on 1st December. I understand it will be similar to the Winter Wonderland but am waiting for more info. We will have all the details here once available. Hopefully it will follow on from the success of the Food Festival.

Lovely event - can only see it growing in popularity.  Would be nice to see local farmers to come and take a stall next year.

The burgers from the DS White stall were delicious!  Well worth queueing for.

i Heard theres another one near Christmas .

Well, what a marvellous new event that was! Congratulations to Craig Wright and his team of organisers for making Marple’s first Food Festival such a success.

We were so busy on the Marple Website stall that I didn’t have time to take a single photograph, so if anyone has any good shots that you’d like to submit to update the Festival page, then please send them to me at admin@marple-uk.com

We look forward to this becoming at least an annual event!

Marple has a fine range of fresh food shops unrivalled in the area. We also have an ever improving range of good restaurants, pubs and cafes. Through the Marple Food and Drink Festival we want celebrate this high quality food and drink that we have in Marple and district.

The centerpiece will be a Local Food Market in Market Street, Marple on 22 September. There will be fresh, local meat, fresh fish, locally baked bread, fruit and veg from the North West, delicious deli food including fine cheese, health foods and fine wines and beers. The local pubs, restaurants and cafes will all be featuring Festival related menus and activities in the week running up to 22 September. There will be a quiz with a foodie emphasis at the Ring o' Bells on Wed 19 September and Marple Wine Club will be organising a wine tasting in that week.

The Mayor will be in Market Street at 11 o'clock on the morning of 22 September to open the Festival and the Robinsons' horse drawn dray will also be there. Schools are involved through a light-hearted competition to grow the largest pumpkin and the largest sunflower. The NHS, through the Primary Care Trust will have a stall promoting healthy eating and healthy lifestyle.

Stockport MBC have already provided much support and assistance and have proved a great help in getting our first 'flyer' designed and printed. (see below). This is already being distributed via shops, pubs etc. Vernon Building Society and Parfett's have very kindly provided some sponsorship for the event. We are not seeking any sponsorship from national organisations. The ethos of this Festival is LOCAL.

Marple Review will be organising an events programme which will be distributed in late August to 5000 houses in and around Marple.

Follow this website for regular updates on the Festival and we'll see you in September
