A beautiful autumn day in the park on Saturday planting crocuses and clearing leaves!

Read more about what we did here: http://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/task-days/task-days-in-2015.html

The next scheduled Task Day is an extra one on Saturday 7 November 2015 to ensure that the park looks its best for the Remembrance Service on Sunday. We'd be delighted if you can come along for however long you can between 10 am and 2 pm. We are also supporting a special task day with pupils from Brabyns Preparatory School on Friday 6 November when they will be helping us tidy leaves for Remembrance too.

Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves and small hand tools if you have them. Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

A really good task day in the park yesterday, apart from copious amounts of dog mess that had to be picked up of course.

Rain defied the forecasts that it would stop around 10am so our volunteers defied the rain and just carried on! Read more about what we did here: http://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/task-days/task-days-in-2015.html

Our first task day using power tools but most of the grafting was still by hand in the flowerbeds. Our volunteers were grateful for the fantastic comments received from park users too. Read more about what we did here: http://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/task-days/task-days-in-2015.html

A mix of work on flowerbeds, shrub beds and paths was carried out by a small group of volunteers yesterday, while several others received power-tools training. We also did some work on Lock 17.

Rather damp yesterday but a handful of volunteers decided to brave the weather. It's this dedication that makes your park so good!

As mentioned in the Treasure Hunt post, we had a great day on Saturday with lots of work on flowerbeds and benches while the hunt was on.

We were pleased to welcome a new volunteer with her baby yesterday, definitely our youngest ever volunteer but he kept nodding off on the job!

We saw both sides of park users during our task day yesterday; those who leave broken bottles spread around the park where they can hurt people and animals and others who put money in our bucket and even buy us drinks and chocolate treats to say thank you. I know which ones I prefer!

With heavy rain, vandalism, offensive graffiti and dog mess in the park, homemade cakes brought along by one of our volunteers were definitely the highlight of yesterday's task day.
