Tonight I went with the family to the Basmati at Brabyns Brow (0161 427 7748). We each enjoyed our meals and I in particular enjoyed my Moghli Chicken Biryani which was served in a delightful manner on nice warm plates. All the usual side dishes were available. Linen tableware ultra modern seating and decor, together with atmospheric blue and pink lighting contributed to make this a most pleasant occasion.

I would certainly go again although I have to say I thought the drinks were a little "pricey" at £2.55 for a small bottled beer ( no draft at present but the manager assured me it will soon be on).

However be warned:

Make sure you have got your cheque book and card, the management do not yet have card facilities, fortunately for me I have a wealthy daughter who just happened to have some cash with her to meet the bill of £60 for four (including 4 beers and 2 wines)

Also when you go in ask for a table looking onto the car park because the radiators are under those windows, we moved tables as it was rather cold, away from the central heating. I am sure this will not be so apparent when the weather gets warmer.

My personal opinion is favourable, the owner was most attentive and was seen to ensure his staff gave customer satisfaction.

9 out of 10.

I deducted 1 mark for having no credit card facility
and  insufficient heating.

We went to Basmati last night - the food was excellent - but even though I was seated next to a radiator - we were all cold.  The manager said that there was someone coming in today (Sunday) to sort the heating out.  He says that it's the huge extractor fans in the kitchen.  Every time they open the kitchen doors - it sucks all the warm air out of the restaurant area.

Other than this - it's truly excellent.

Hmmmmm....  This restaurant is victim of its own popularity.  Went on Saturday at 8pm.  Restuarant already heaving and people queuing.  Took our seats at 8pm, chose our meal - starters and main courses - and waited and waited and waited.  By 9.15pm we were very very hungry and contemplating leaving and getting a takeaway from another outlet.  Finally our meal arrives - but no starters - just the main course.  We decided to just have the main course which we enjoyed.  Apologies from the manager who said that four staff hadn't turned up.  We weren't the only ones whose meal was unacceptably delayed.  Meanwhile more and more people are piling in - quite a scrum at the entrance with people outside as well.  Really - they shouldn't have done the takeaways as they couldn't cope with the amount of people who had booked tables.  Manager obviously under a lot of pressure as he hadn't really a clue what we had eaten - good job we were honest.  He kindly decided not to charge us for the starters............

A friend told me that she went in last week, and they ended up leaving because after an hour they still hadnt got their starters, so it seems that the initial teething problems are on going.

Its a shame, because I have visited, and the food was really delicious, but I was freezing cold in the place, but I think this problem has been resolved.

I will go back, but Im still waiting for the right time '<img'>

Ive taken the plunge, and I visited last night '<img'>

For a Thursday night, it was extremely busy with every table full.

Initially service was a little slow, drinks took a while to come, and we did have to wait to order the food, but, once it was ordered, we were off the starting block so to speak, and then the service was very good.

We had mixed starters and the chicken tikka was the most gorgeous I have ever tasted, delicious.

There were four adults and 3 children in our party, we had five main courses between us and an extra starter, and made up for the little ones that dont really like too much spicy food, with  extra nan etc

All food was fresh, and delicious, there was not one item that we had that I could say was dissapointing, it really was very good.

Drinks are expensive, my only serious niggle, a soft drink (j2o) is as expensive as an alchoholic drink, wine is served in large glasses, but stupidly I did not question if it was actually a large measure I was being sold (I will remember next time, honest).

We sat next to the radiator so we were nice and warm.

I enjoyed my evening, and although it was very busy, I felt relaxed with the company I was with.

I would score my visit this time 9/10

they don't take cards!  Surely this is discrimination against those who like to pay for goods using plastic money...to be fleet of foot after consumation is the best way to pay therefore.
