Thank you everyone who took part in the poll!  There was 1 member (thank you!) and 2 people who didn't know what Stockport Credit Union is.
Basically SCU is a local, not for profit, member-owned savings and loans community organisation, started over 30 years ago. Anyone who lives or works in Stockport can join for £1.20, save into and borrow from the pot. All money stays in Stockport; like other co-ops any profits are shared by members through a dividend.
We have Saver Accounts, Junior Saver Accounts and Xmas Saver Accounts, all FSCS protected up to £85,000.
We have Loans up to £7,500. The amounts you can borrow and interest rates depend on your situation. Our rates are lower than payday lenders, rent-to-own shops, many credit cards, doorstep lenders, guarantor loans. If you have a loan with someone who advertises on TV, you should talk to us! We do not charge for set up, extra payments or early repayment.
We have many amazing volunteers who give their time to make Stockport Credit Union accessible to as many areas of the borough as possible.  If you have skills in Finance, Customer Service or Admin it would be great to hear from you! Our website is at www.stockportcu.com
Thanks all, please pass on the word about this great local business!
