Would anyone be interested in attending a monthly French conversation group in Marple?
-
Yes I would be interested depending on where and when
stan
-
Thank you for your response Stan. My idea would be meeting once a month somewhere local, nothing too formal just an opportunity for people to get together and practice spoken French with each other. Perhaps during the evening and maybe meet somewhere like the Navigation, or anywhere else that people might prefer.
-
J'aimerais venir. Mais mon français parlé est pas très bon
Au revior
-
Moi aussi, si possible.
-
Thank you all for the replies. I propose next Thursday (31st) evening at 8 o'clock in the Navi, if that suits everyone?
-
Its quiz night at the Navigation on Thursdays. It might be a bit noisy. Maybe you could write the answers in French.
-
Peut etre essayer La Bague de Cloches?

I have just spoken to Susan at the Ringers and she tells me that Wednesday evenings are nice and quiet, also if necessary we can have part of the pub all to ourselves if the group needs it. How does Wednesday 30th at 8 o'clock suit?
-
Thanks Wednesday 8pm is fine with me. Have you any idea how many are likely to be there and will it be all male ?
Stan
-
Someone's been using Google translate :)
I can't guarantee attendance sorry, my main problem at the moment is free time and Wednesday is often busy: however if I am free I will pop round to the Ringers. Hopefully I will be able to make it:
-
Even Google Translate would come up with something better than 'La Bague de Cloches'! ;D
-
I'll be at the Ringers on Wednesday at 8 o'clock and hopefully get to meet some of you. I'll have a French flag on the table! I will be putting a card in the Post Office window next week so we'll see how much interest there is, and hopefully we'll be able to build up a nice little group for our French conversations. :)
-
I'm free tonight so I'll see you at the Ringers :)
-
Card is now in the Post Office window, à ce soir! :)
-
It was a really nice evening, I'm looking forward to the next one!
-
Thank you nbt and Stan, it was lovely to meet you both! :) I look forward to the next meeting on Wednesday 27th April. A la prochaine fois. :)
-
I am interested in attending this in the future
-
Hier soir au ROB c'etait tres bien passe grace a MF et NBT.
It will be interesting to see how the group develops with different personalities and abilities.

Hi Henry, you are very welcome to come along and join us :)
-
Votre français est un peu rouillé - is your French a little rusty? Would you like to meet others to practice your French conversation with? We are a small and informal group who meet in the Ringers on the last Wednesday of every month from 8 o'clock. Any level of ability welcome, all that is necessary is a love of the French language and the desire to meet others who also enjoy the same passion for speaking it. Nous espérons vous rencontrer bientôt!
-
REMINDER: The next group meeting is this coming Wednesday 27th at 8 o'clock in the Ring 'O' Bells.
-
Sorry Catherine will not be able to attend tonight due to illness and will be away on holiday at the end of May so will miss that meeting too. Please keep me posted with developments numbers etc.
Thanks Stan
-
We'll miss you Stan
I'll be there, hoping to see a couple of friends down too but can't guarantee it
-
Aww Stan, thank you for letting us know, we will definitely miss you! I have had a couple of phone calls resulting from the Post Office ad so hopefully there will be some new faces joining us this evening. Will keep you posted, Stan. :)
-

-
Thanks Catherine, sounds like you had a good evening with some new people !! I had assumed the May meeting would be the 25th but as it is the 18th should be able to attend.

A reminder that the French evening is this Wednesday 26th october, 8pm at the Ring O'Bells. You don't have to speak fluent french, we welcome and encourage all who are interested in speaking or even just listening to french
As a reminder also, Marple Exploring The Arts will be showing a french film the following evening, Thursday October 27th
Meetings are normally held fortnightly on Thursdays at 7.30pm at the Marple United Reformed Church, Hibbert Lane, Marple, SK6 7NN
Non Members welcome: £6 per meeting.
All refreshments are included.
October 27th
Film night: Le Havre (2011, PG, 1hr 33 min, comedy drama, French with English subtitles)
In this warm-hearted portrait of the French harbour city that gives the film its name, fate throws a young African refugee into the path of a well-spoken bohemian who works as a shoeshiner. The director’s deadpan wit hits a graceful note with Le Havre, a comedy/drama that's sweet, sad, and uplifting in equal measure.

Once more unto the pub, mes amis - here is your monthly reminder that Marple French Group will be meeting tonight for a social chat in the Ringers at 8pm. Sadly, there won't be a meeting in August as many of the regulars will be en vacances!

Only a few days till the next meeting: 8pm Wednesday at the Ring o'Bells. Hope to see you there!

What is the average number attending this group and the average age. Thnks

Bonsoir Stan
Numbers vary from half a dozen to a dozen each month. Ages range from recent graduates to those who've taken retirement and are enjoying a new lease of life, though the average age is somewhat skewed towards the latter
-

-
The calendar has been updated to show the planned meeting dates for 2018 - the first meeting will be 8pm on Wednesday Jan 31st. Hope to see plenty of you at the Ring o'Bells!
-
Last month's meeting coincided with the snow that blanketed Marple, so the meeting was a little quiet - though it did go ahead and Chas and I had a nice chat.
Hopefully tonight's meeting will be easier to get to, hope to see a few people down
