Title: Cloudberry Cafe
Post by: LG on July 18, 2014, 12:47:57 PM
We recently visited Cloudberry Cafe for the first time. I took my two sons there for lunch and it's a very pleasant, welcoming place with incredibly friendly and chatty staff. The food is simple but good and reasonably priced. It's easy to find something that children like to eat and drink, including their children's lunch which includes a sandwich, drink and icecream and is good value. There are homemade cakes available. Best of all, in my opinion, is that they have a state of the art coffee machine and grinder, and know how to use them (not always the case in some places)! They have a section at the rear of the cafe devoted to arts and crafts, and it's good to see a cafe with a different slant, presenting itself with flair and imagination.

I will definitely be going back there and recommend it as a good, reasonably-priced cafe.

Went there yesterday and agree with you, the Bradwell's ice cream is fantastic! I had the butterscotch ripple and my girlfriend had cherry bakewell flavour - delicious. Service very friendly and wow the place is like a tardis, so much bigger inside than it looks!

The only sad thing is I can't see it being around for very long.... there was nobody else in there, and as you say the value is very good ie. they're not charging enough surely to meet costs, it's a very big space they've got I imagine rent alone is quite high. And it's just a bit out of the way - you go past All Things Nice or Red Pepper Cafe on the high street and they're packed.

I really hope I'm wrong though because it is a great little cafe this one! Will also be going back - regularly :)

I took my little girl in a Cloudberry for lunch yesterday. I agree that this is a great cafe. It's been refurbished beautifully and have some good crafts and gifts. We had a lovely lunch and they were very attentive to my daughter. They overheard her admiring a headband and found a 'Frozen' one especially for her.

They were busy getting ready for a children's party and there were other people having lunch, buying gifts and takeaway coffee so looks promising. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

Glad to hear your positive experiences, too, Dizzy Penguin and Middle wood. I share your concerns, though, Dizzy Penguin, regarding the cafe's long-term survival in a place like Marple where we are not short of cafes. However, the fact that they are doing something a little different, and seem to take a creative approach in terms of developing other opportunities, e.g. gifts, children's parties (as mentioned by Middle wood) and the craft workshops, could hopefully ensure that the business continues to grow. I think one of it's real strengths is that it has such a friendly, community feel to it, and if it can survive long enough to build a loyal customer base, it will hopefully be a success. It's a lovely addition to Marple's eating places, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed!
