Title: World Cup Football
Post by: daniel2034 on June 07, 2010, 08:46:19 PM
Where would people recommend to watch the football? Atmosphere, need to be able to get served, and a good TV/screen ???

Toying with the cricket club but a tenner to join - what do people think?

It's a HUGE screen and the HD is excellent, as is the beer!  But I would say that, wouldn't I?  ;D

The screen is at the far end from the bar. It takes up virtually the entire wall and it is very impressive. It was on show at the last beer festival held there and it should be almost as good as being in SA!

As Mark has noted, the screen is enormous and is located at the far end of the main hall away from the bar, it really does take up virtually all of the wall. It's also suprising how good the HD makes the quality of the picture. There will be no problem is seeing the action.

As for numbers - who knows? The hall can seat well over 100. There are bound to be lots of cricketers and other members and locals in there. I would expect something close to a full house for the first England game on the Saturday.

Prices are generally less than pub prices for members. There is always a real ale on the handpump with recent beers being Black Sheep, Adnams, etc.

Come on down - if you get there early there will also be some cricket to watch in the sun, which is always a lazy and enjoyable saturday afternoon option (unless you are  playing - like me!).
