MARPLE PROMOTIONS

Marple Promotions was formed in January 2002 by local history enthusiasts Peter Clarke, Mark Whittaker and John Wilkinson. During 2001 we realised that despite all Marple has going for it, there is little effort made to promote the town either as a tourist attraction, or in any other way. We've decided to try and do something about this.

Postcards

Our objective is to develop ways to raise the profile of Marple and promote the town to the wider world. We would also like to gain interest in and support for the preservation of Marple's heritage.

Open Cards

Our first contribution to this was the production of a set of eight postcards of local canal scenes showing Marple at its very best. We followed this up with a series of eight open cards depicting more of Marple's great attractions. The postcards and open cards are now on sale in local shops and pubs, or available here on the Internet. Hopefully they'll find their way all around the country, if not the world, showing just what Marple has to offer.

We built on these foundations towards the end of 2002 with the creation of 12 Christmas cards and a Marple and Mellor 2003 calendar in time for the end of the year. In 2003 we we put the experienced gained with our first calendar to good use and produced and even better ones for 2004 and 2005. We maintained our momentum into 2005 with the production of a fantastic new calendar for 2006 and we are continuing the development of more new products featuring different aspects of Marple, Mellor and the surrounding District, to promote the area in even more different ways.

We've chosen to feature Marple Aqueduct as our logo because, as Marple's most significant remaining historical landmark, it typifies the aspects of Marple's history and heritage we wish to promote and preserve.
