Email: mcc@peacefield.fsnet.co.ukMr. C. Ainsworth, East Area Committee Manager, Stockport M.B.C. Town Hall, Stockport. SK1 3XE Date :10 th. October 2001.Dear Mr. Ainsworth, Re: "The Iron Bridge" ( Crossing the River Goyt) in Brabyns Park. Local residents are campaigning for the restoration of the "Iron Bridge" which crosses the River Goyt at the Compstall end of Brabyns Park. The campaign has been displayed on the Marple Web site. Marple Community Council supports this campaign, in the hope that the Bridge will one day be restored, it is believed by MCC that the Bridge would be a tourist attraction to the area if restored and would also return a bit of local history to its former glory. Could you make enquiries on our behalf with the relevant Departments and kindly let us know of any progress that could be made on this issue. Yours faithfully, M.T. Burton. Chairman of Marple Community Council. |
