| USED TO LIVE AT 56 LOWER FOLD IN THE SEVENTIES. MOVED AWAY TO LINCOLNSHIRE TO BUY A FARM, MANY HAPPY MEMORIES OF THE AREA. | I'm working away at the moment but I'm glad to see that the mounting block question has been resolved. Bravo to the person with the foresight to place it where it can be used for its original purpose. I'm probably the only person in the last 40 years or so to actually mount a horse from it. Pity I wasn't around to come and christen it on the plaque-unveiling day! I shall certainly do so when I'm back in the village. Riding is made so difficult these days by a number of factors that it's great when anything that helps is preserved and so many mounting blocks from outside pubs etc have gone to be road-stone or museum pieces. Horse and I will be able to continue to stop for polos and choccie when passing through the "village". Good for you. | ||

| Really : a great site ! it brings back a lot of memories. I lived in Marple and went on holidays several times there and it always brings me very good memories. I had a girl-friend in Marple Green called Sam and her family was great. I sometimes miss the atmosphere of your country-side, your canal and (of course...) yours pubs with Sunday lunches, quizzes, etc... I really hope I will be able to go back there in the future. If anybody remembers me, just send me an e-mail : It will be great to get in touch again with people I knew when I was a teenager. | ||

| I visit your web site often when I'm thinking of home, I was born in Hawk Green and lived there for many years. Love to check out the pictures, see what's new. The Marple I grew up in hasn't changed too much, it's still one of the greatest places on earth, and to me will always be home. | ||

| Wonderful site. The Photos bring back happy memories. If anyone reading this went to Marple prep (the red caps) in Rose Hill during the early 1940's, I have a school picture taken in July 1940. Well preserved with good clear images. I can e-mail a quality printable copy to anyone who's interested. | ||

| As a regular visitor to this great site I think it is good to read the messages from folk in Marple who care about the place. I have just been back in town for Christmas - and I must say that I had been quite concerned about the state of Marple as there has been quite
a lot of negative stuff mentioned on your forum discussion page - IT AIN'T AS BAD AS YOU THINK FOLKS!! It is still "home" to me - and although there have been changes - Marple is still Marple. As I get older I realise how lucky I was growing up there! Appreciate what you've got - while you've still got it! Thanks for the great web-site! | ||
